Lesson: What is the mystery of the abandoned Maya cities?
In this history mystery lesson, pupils will explore some of the key theories about the mass abandonment of Maya cities. Pupils will choose two of the theories to evaluate and then present their points of view about the likelihood of each theory in a class debate. Pupils will explore why the mass abandonment was not the end of the Maya civilization and will find out what happened to the surviving Maya after the event.
